JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC

JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC is the newest filler in Allergan Aesthetics™ JUVÉDERM^® Collection of  Fillers.  It is created using Vycross^® technology and has a medium concentration of hyaluronic acid.  I compare the viscosity of this filler to that of a syrup and similar to the viscosity of JUVÉDERM^® Ultra XC.  It is non-hydrophylic, can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed and comes in a prefilled 1 ml syringe premixed with lidocaine. 

This new filler is a real workhorse.  Its results can last up to 18 months, decreasing the number of treatments needed to maintain a desired look.  It feels soft and smooth after injection and is good for correcting moderate to severe volume loss in areas of the face such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, chin creases and oral commisures.  Though off lable, JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC can be used in tear troughs, glabellar lines and lips.  JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC and  JUVÉDERM^® Ultra XC can be used in the same areas of the face, but because the hyaluronic acid is cross-linked using Vycross^® technology, treatments using JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC result in longer-lasting corrections. 

Since the introduction of JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC, I find myself using it most of the time for areas of mild to moderate volume loss.  If there is an area of severe volume loss such as deep etched lines in the nasolabial folds, I find it more effective to use a heavier filler initially such as JUVÉDERM^® Ultra Plus XC to build up the area and then apply a layer of JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC to give a finished smooth natural look.
